Betano Review: What Its Prices Cost You Per £100 Staked

This is a price measurement, not a product review. Betano was measured on the same basket as every other book in the August 2026 study — 58 of its match-result markets priced in the capture window — and came out 12th of 18 in the ranking — 8.72% margin, £8.02 per £100 staked. Nothing about its app, its offers or its service is measured here.

No commercial relationship. We earn nothing from Betano and cannot link it. It is measured and published on identical terms to the operators we do earn from.

The margin is the overround: add up the implied probability of every outcome in a market and a fair book totals 100%. Betano totalled 108.72% on average, and that surplus is the charge. Expressed against your stake rather than against the fair book it comes to £8.02 per £100 — the two figures measure the same thing from different ends, which is why both are printed rather than one.

In this window the keenest book measured £5.67 per £100 and the dearest £10.58. Betano sat £2.35 above the keenest end and £2.56 below the dearest. Its immediate neighbours, BetVictor and Betway, were both level on price.

Betano odds by competition

The same operator, the same window, 5 different answers — 2.08 points between Betano’s own best and worst. A margin is not one number an operator sets; it is set market by market.

Betano measured margin and cost per £100 staked, by competition
Competition Margin Cost per £100 Against its own average
Premier League 7.52% £6.99 -1.20
ATP Canadian Open 7.89% £7.31 -0.83
Championship 9.09% £8.33 +0.37
League Two 9.49% £8.67 +0.77
League One 9.60% £8.76 +0.88

Every figure in that table is also BetVictor’s, to the penny: the two published the same prices in all 58 markets, so one per-competition table serves both brands. Read across it and the span inside Betano is 2.08 points, from 7.52% on Premier League to 9.60% on League One — and holding an account at both brands does nothing to narrow it.

What an 8.72% margin costs over a year

Betano charges 8.72% on turnover, not on deposits. Stake the same pound twice and it is charged twice, which is what turns a small percentage into a yearly figure.

Annual cost of the measured Betano margin at three levels of turnover
Staked in a year Cost at 8.72% At the keenest measured Difference
£1,000 £80 £57 £23
£5,000 £401 £284 £117
£20,000 £1,604 £1,134 £470

These are arithmetic on the measured margin, not a prediction about anyone’s results. What happens to individual bets is a separate matter entirely; the margin is the part that is known in advance and charged whatever happens.

The third column is the same turnover at the keenest margin in this window, Betfred. At £5,000 staked the gap is £117 a year — worth setting against whatever the sign-up offer is worth, because one is charged every year and the other arrives once.

Betano and BetVictor published identical prices

Across the 58 markets both brands priced in this window, Betano and BetVictor published the same set of prices 58 times. Not a similar average — the same numbers, market after market.

That only means something next to what ordinary pairs do. Of the 153 pairs of books compared in this sample, the median pair agreed on 1.8% of the markets they both priced. The closest pair that did not match everywhere was William Hill and 888sport, at 44 of 57. Two books running separate trading desks disagree constantly, even when their averages land within a hundredth of each other.

The reading is a shared pricing platform. That is an inference drawn from the prices, not something the Gambling Commission’s register records, and it is set out here as such. In this case the register does at least show the two brands under one licence holder.

For a bettor the practical consequence is short: holding accounts at both brands adds no choice of price in these markets. It is the same book twice.

Betano is a brand, not a licensee. The Commission licenses BV Gaming Limited under account 39576 for remote betting on real events, and every price measured on this page was published under that licence. The account has held it since November 2014.

The Commission records the betano.co.uk registration as a white label, which means the brand is operated on someone else’s licence rather than its own. It is a registration status on the public register, printed here because it is rarely visible anywhere a customer would look.

The same licence covers BetVictor in this study. Here the licence and the prices point the same way, which is not something to take for granted — it is set out above.

The same account carries 7 further active domains outside this study: betvictor.mobi, hbingo.co.uk, heartbingo.co.uk, parimatch.co.uk, smoothspins.co.uk, talksportbet.co.uk, talksportbet.com. What sits behind each of those is not something we measure; they are listed because the licence is the part of a brand’s ownership that is public, and the rest of it generally is not.

Betano on the Gambling Commission’s register

The Commission’s register of regulatory actions currently lists nothing against BV Gaming Limited. That is what the register shows on the date we checked it, 7 August 2026, and not a judgement about the operator: matters age off the register over time, and an absence today is not a guarantee about the past.

Where an operator in this study does carry an action, it is printed on its own page with the date and the published outcome, whether or not we earn from it.

Where Betano sits in the study

12 of 18 puts Betano in the middle third of the table. That is one capture window, one market type and 5 competitions, so it is a finding about this sample rather than a verdict on the operator. A different basket would produce a different order, and saying so is not a hedge — it is what the method page commits us to.

Betano finished on exactly the same average margin as Betway in this window, without pricing anything like them market by market. An identical average is arithmetic; it is not evidence that two books are related. The pages that do make that claim on this site make it from the underlying prices instead.

The full table, exchanges included, is on the register; how the figure is calculated is on the method page.

There is no link to Betano on this page. We hold no arrangement with it and it earns us nothing, which does not change how it was measured or where it appears in the ranking.

Questions about Betano

What margin did Betano charge?

8.72% across the 58 match-result markets we sampled on 7 August 2026, which works out at £8.02 per £100 staked. That is one capture window on one market type and is not a statement about its prices today.

Is Betano cheap or expensive compared to other bookmakers?

It ranked 12 of 18 bookmakers in this sample, keenest first. The keenest measured £5.67 per £100 and the dearest £10.58, so Betano sat £2.35 above the keenest end and £2.56 below the dearest.

Is Betano licensed in Great Britain?

Yes. The Gambling Commission licenses BV Gaming Limited under account 39576, licence 039576-R-319370-026, held since November 2014 and active when we checked the public register. Betano is a brand operated under that licence, not a licensee in its own right.

Who actually operates Betano?

BV Gaming Limited, which also holds the licence covering BetVictor in this study. Separate brands, one licence holder — and, as the figures here show, the same prices on every market in this basket.

Does Betano have a regulatory record?

Nothing is currently listed against BV Gaming Limited on the Commission’s register of regulatory actions. That is a statement about what the register shows today, not a clean bill of health for all time — matters age off the register over time.

Does the margin apply to every market at Betano?

No. These are match-result markets across 5 competitions. Within that sample its keenest competition was Premier League at 7.52% and its dearest was League One at 9.60%, a span of 2.08 points. Other market types are not measured here at all.

What does an 8.72% margin cost over a year?

At £5,000 staked across a year, roughly £401. The margin is charged on turnover, not on deposits, so it recurs on every bet rather than once — which is why it can outweigh a welcome offer several times over.

Why is there no link to Betano?

Because we hold no commercial arrangement with Betano and earn nothing from it. It is measured, ranked and published on exactly the same terms as the operators we do link, which is the point of publishing the unlinked ones at all.

Why are Betano and BetVictor prices the same?

Across the 58 markets both priced in this window, the two published an identical set of prices 58 times. Two books running separate trading operations do not do that: the typical pair in this sample agreed on 1.8% of markets. The obvious reading is a shared pricing platform, which is an inference from the prices rather than something the Commission’s register records.

Can I check these figures myself?

Yes, and that is the intention. The formula, the basket, the exclusion rules and the test vectors are published on the method page, and the odds calculator runs the same arithmetic on any prices you enter. The figures here are ours and can be wrong; where a check shows they are, they change.
